Medical Clerkship Faculty

Katie Tatar, MD, Clerkship Director Internal Medicine, Summa Health System. Dr. Tatar is a graduate of the University of Toledo College of Medicine where she was awarded the George D. Ludwig Prize in Medicine for her "outstanding ability in clinical medicine, compassion for her patients, the zeal for understanding and a commitment to excellence." She served as chief resident for the Summa Health Internal Medicine residency before joining the faculty in the Summa Department of Medicine, where she currently serves as Associate Director of the Internal Medicine Center. Dr. Tatar is an Assistant Professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University and a member of the American College of Physicians. She serves in multiple young physician leadership roles for the Department of Medicine.
Don Albainy MD Associate Clerkship Director, Internal Medicine, Summa Health System. Dr. Albainy is a graduate of the Wright State University College of Medicine. He has received teaching awards at both AGMC and Summa Health. He was awarded the Barbara Donoho Distinguished leadership in Teaching Award by the Kent State School of Nursing. Dr. Albainy is an Associate Professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University and adjunct clinical faculty member at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and at Kent State University School of Nursing. He currently serves as a faculty facilitator for the Reflective Medicine Course at NEOMED. He is a member of the Clinical Competency Committee and Program Evaluation Committee for the Summa Transitional Year Medicine residency.

Recognizing Leadership: Brad Moore MD

For most of the past decade, our clerkship program has been led by Brad Moore MD, who crafted an outstanding learning experience for the many students who came to Summa for their IM clerkship, sub-internship or externship. Under Brad's guidance, the clerkship program has been recognized by students as a foundational learning experience, leading to successful residency appointments and fellowships. In addition, Brad has mentored young clinicians to live balanced lives, develop their own humanity and attend to the patient. Now, as Dr. Moore moves on to become Summa's Internal Medicine residency Program Director, he leaves a legacy of academic and educational excellence. Thank, you, Brad for all you have done to build a clerkship program that our students value and praise. Best wishes in your new role!
